The Positioner Statistics GUI

Information on the current positioner statistics can be found in a Positioner Status window, an example of which is show in Figure . This window is created each time a new field is set up via the Positioner GUI (Figure ). Once the initial plate fiducial survey is finished, the statistics for the current configuration (averaged over all fibres positioned so far this configuration) are shown, along with an estimate of the time at completion of the configuration. Note that the first few moves of most configurations will be parks, and so the estimated time to completion will tend to initial drift below the the initial estimate, and then generally creep back up as the configuration proceeds.

Once the configuration is completed, the Clear button will change to a Close button to remove the current pos stats window.

The Save button allows the user to save the statistics of the last configuration to disk. This is useful for diagnose positioner problems, although since August 2006, it has been redundant as the statistics are logged independently.
