The AAO Master Filter Catalog

This file is the master list of AAT filters for scientific use in AAT instruments, compiled originally by Chris Tinney. In particular, it defines the "AAO Filter Number" for each filter. This number is for use in file headers, etc. so that future records can know exactly which physical piece of glass is used in scientific observations.

Since the function of this list is to handle scientifically useful filters, it will not list every piece of glass in the observatory (like guider filters, old photomultiplier filters, or test equipment filters), but should list all those used to obtain AAT data.

Notes

The WFI Schott filter profile data are predicted (not measured). They are derived from the Schott glasses used in their manufacture. These throughputs do not include the effects of reflection at the filter surfaces, which will reduce their overall throughput by a further 8%. The peak throughput indicated in column 10 includes this extra 8% reflection loss.
