Axisymmetric Outflows from post AGB Stars
Tim Gledhill University of Hertfordshire, UK
The development of axisymmetry in the outflows of dust and
gas during the AGB phase of stellar evolution leads to the
bipolar morphologies observed in proro-planetary nebulae
(PPNe) and planetary nebula (PNe). We use imaging polarimetry
data from UKIRT to detect axisymmetric structure in the dusty
envelopes of these objects and OH maser imaging with MERLIN
to trace the gas.
