X-Ray Storms in Active Galaxies
Hagai Netzer Tel Aviv University
New Chandra and XMM-Newton observations provide the first firm evidence
for strong nuclear winds (X-ray storm) of highly ionized gas in active
galactic nuclei (AGN). High resolution X-ray spectroscopy, not available
until 1999, will be shown and discussed. The new data supply information
about the location and physical properties of this gas and provide new
ways to probe the AGN starburst connection and the AGN unification
schemes.
