"On the connections between the star formation and supernova rates"

Abstract. The most massive stars in a star formation burst evolve the fastest and then spectacularly explode as core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe). Thus, observations of CCSNe are excellent indicators of recent star formation activity. In the past decade, the number of CCSNe discoveries have dramatically increased. However, there remains discrepancies when these are confronted by SFR estimates based on conventional indicators such as the UV. Investigating these discrepancies reveals insights for both CCSNe and SFR, both of which will be covered in this talk.
