"The Advanced Technology Solar Telescope (ATST) Project"
Abstract. I will give an overview of the ATST project, which is an off-axis 4-meter telescope being built in Hawaii for the study of the Sun. Adaptive optics plays a critical role for optical and infrared observations that strive to study the smallest magnetic structures (about 20 km in size) that influence the solar atmospheric and coronal structure. The project is slated to have first light on the 2017 timescale.
