"Red Supergiants in the Inner Milky Way: Tell-tales of Galactic Structure"
Abstract. Over the last few years, several young massive clusters, visible mainly through their red supergiant population, have been discovered over a narrow area in the base of the Scutum-Crux arm, conforming one of the more active stellar formation areas in the Milky Way. In this talk I will review these studies, along with the first results from the VVV survey and the survey we are carrying out with AAOmega-2dF to hunt for these elusive stars to draw an updated picture of the inner structure of our Galaxy.
