This file is the master list of AAT filters for scientific use in AAT instruments, compiled originally by Chris Tinney. In particular, it defines the "AAO Filter Number" for each filter. This number is for use in file headers, etc. so that future records can know exactly which physical piece of glass is used in scientific observations.
Since the function of this list is to handle scientifically useful filters, it will not list every piece of glass in the observatory (like guider filters, old photomultiplier filters, or test equipment filters), but should list all those used to obtain AAT data.
- AAO# - is a unique and arbitrary AAO running number assigned to each filter.
- Filter, lam/dlam - Descriptive names for each filter are given, along with approximate wavelengths and bandpasses in nanometres. These wavelengths should be used as a guide only. To specify an AAO filter uniquely use the AAO#.
- Thickness - The physical thickness of the filter in millimetres, unless the flag "(o)" is noted, in which case the thickness is an optical thickness.
- Size - The dimensions of the filter in millimetres.
- Focus Offset - The focus offset (in millimetres) to be applied to the f/3.3 top-end to focus this filter for use with the doublet corrector, unless indicated with a "(t)" in which case the triplet corrector is referred to. A focus offset of 0.0 corresponds to no filter.
- Details - Details of the filter including its recipe (where known) and the filter set it forms part of.
- Comments - Comments
- Peak - Approximate peak throughput of the filter
- Bandpass - Data and plots of the filter bandpass, where available.
