Documentation

The AAO regularly publishes documents giving detailed information about the Observatory's telescopes and detectors.

These documents are distributed to astronomical institutes and libraries worldwide. Observers who have been granted AAT time can obtain a personal copy of the relevant users' manual(s) by contacting the AAO Librarian at Epping, or can pick up a copy on arrival at Epping or Coonabarabran. Draft copies of newly-written manuals are generally `road tested' at the telescope for some time before their release, and comments from visiting astronomers are particularly helpful at this stage.

A complete list of currently-available AAO's manuals can be found at

http://www.aao.gov.au/local/www/cgt/docs/docs2.html.

In some areas (notably CCD detectors, IR array detectors, fibre-optic spectroscopy, computers and data reduction software) rapid developments are taking place and it is advisable to consult the AAO Newsletter or the on-line versions of the manuals for the latest information.
