All AAO images are available to publishers and the like as RGB digital files in two file formats,
TIFF and JPG. These files are intended for book and magazine
publication and the search fees below do not apply when a
reproduction fee has been agreed. All photographs are supplied without
the burned-in credit lines. We take copyright issues seriously, so high res files are only supplied when we have a street address for the recipient and a written undertaking that they are to be used only in an agreed context and not otherwise copied or distributed.
The largest digital images we normally supply are 600ppi RGB .TIFFs, nominally 22.5 x 28 cm (about 9 x 11 inches, 100Mb). These files are saved from Adobe Photoshop at a gamma of 1.8, whitepoint 6500K in Apple RGB colour space. 100Mb is the largest file we routinely supply and this size is only supplied on CD-ROM. All other sizes can be supplied by anonymous ftp or on CD. Publication requirements vary widely so to meet the various possibilities and to simplify downloading the files are available in three standard sizes:
These files are copyright and a copyright/credit line notice accompanies each CD-ROM or download. Agreement to download or purchase a CD-ROM implies acceptance of these conditions. Payment can be made by credit card or against our invoice. Check currency conversion for latest forex rates. Please address enquiries and orders to photo@aao.gov.au |
