The following is the full list of NGC and IC (and some other) objects appearing on photographs of astronomical objects (as opposed to star trails, telescopes etc. taken with the telescopes of the Australian Astronomical Observatory. As time permits, this list will be expanded to include all commonly-catalogued objects on the photographs, to include alternative designations and those objects whose names do not appear in the image titles. Searches in this list can currently be made for NCG, IC and Messier objects using your browser's find function. Hotlinks in the NGC or IC designations will take you to more comprehensive information about an individual object (just now this only works for galaxies...) Sources NGC and IC positions (both in J2000 coordinates) and descriptions are used with permission from NGC 2000.0 (R.W. Sinnott, Ed.) © Sky Publishing Corporation, 1988. The cryptic descriptions are explained in the (edited) introductory material from that volume. More information on individual objects can be obtained by clicking on the NGC or IC numbers associated with those objects. The Galaxy data found in this way are reproduced courtesy of the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED) The NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED) is operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, under contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
