Science spectra taken during 2dF commissioning for the combined bright
galaxy/quasar survey projects. The top panel shows two quasars at redshifts
of 2.7 and 1.5, the lower an AGN and an absorption line galaxy at redshifts
of 0.18 and 0.12. Further details of the current status of 2dF and of the
science being done during the commissioning phase are given inside. Karl
