As discussed in Section 1.4, vignetting
limits the coverage obtained with larger detectors.
The unvignetted region which can be observed is 38.5 x 18.8 mm (for
less than 10% vignetting). The region covered at 50% vignetting is 60 x
34 mm, which is approximately the entire LL chip.
Figure 2 shows the coverage of the MITLL2 CCD. The level of vignetting is marked, and this removes any advantage in rotating the CCD as extra orders covered would be heavily vignetted. MITLL3 has the same coverage and limitations as MITLL2.
Coverage for the wavelength of interest can be investigated using the ECHWIND program (Section 2.2). The coverage for each order is given in the Spectral Format Tables below.
