Plans exist for a second, shorter focal length camera to give lower resolving power but greater wavelength coverage in a single exposure. However, it appears unlikely to be built in the near future.

However, due to slight misalignments in the optics, use of the beam rotator moves the telescope pupil in the UCLES camera, and the change in vignetting can cause losses of up to 30. Efforts to correct this have been only partially successful.

Another image slicer was also available for UCLES prior to UHRF, but it was beneficial only over a very narrow range of seeing from 1.0 to 56#56, and even then gave a maximum gain of only 10 to 15 . It has been retired; details may be found in the original UCLES manual UM25.1 or from the instrument scientist.
