Observers control UCLES and UHRF through the VAX via a user interface based
on the ADAM Interactive Command Language (ICL). This software in turn controls
a SYNTEL micro--computer that handles all the low-level processing involved in
configuring the instrument. The VAX software is available to institutions where
it can be run in simulation mode, and you may find it useful to familiarize
yourself with it prior to your observing run.
