Some SYNTEL commands differ from the (short--form) VAX commands in name or resulting action, and the two commands sets, though very similar, should not be confused. The units are always encoder units, though real units are tabulated for reference. The full command set for the SYNTEL is:


Do not issue a second command to a mechanism without having allowed the first to complete or having cancelled it. Otherwise two functions will run simultaneously trying to drive a single mechanism to two different positions.
In addition to the expected values, a read ( r) of a mechanism may yield
the following results:
99 = moving
4095 = power off (12 bit encoder)
65535 = power off (16 bit encoder)
