Excellence in Science at Wingham High School
Since 2005,
Andrew Hopkins has
sponsored an annual award for excellence in science at his former
secondary school, Wingham High.
The idea behind these awards is to encourage and motivate talented
and academically accomplished young people to pursue careers in
science and technology.
Winners of the Andrew Hopkins Excellence in Science Award:
- 2005: Megan Shultz enrolled at ADFA in a Science degree.
- 2006: Matthew Shultz is studying Biomedical Science at Newcastle
University, after undertaking a gap year program in the RAAF; and
Mitchell Clarke is studying Electrical Engineering at ADFA.
- 2007: Jessica Taylor is enrolled in a Bachelor of Science and
Mathematics at the University of Newcastle.
- 2008: Nathan Brown and
Jack Collins enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at
the University of Sydney.
- 2009: Madoc Collins enrolled in a Bachelor of Science at the
University of Sydney.
Andrew Hopkins is the Head of AAT Science at the
Anglo-Australian Observatory.
