The NASA Astrobiology Institute

Rosalind Grymes (NASA Astrobiology Institute)

Now entering its fourth year, the NASA Astrobiology Institute is the U.S. space agency's focal investment in this interdisciplinary field. In the past year, the NAI has added four new consortium Lead Teams to its membership, which join the original eleven Teams. In addition, we have concluded Affiliate partnership arrangements with two international groups, the United Kingdom Astrobiology Forum and the Australian Centre for Astrobiology. These groups, in concert with our Associate international Member, the Centro de Astrobiologia in Spain, constitute the formal global partnerships of the NAI. Collaborative directions and opportunities are the crux of the Institute's efforts. This presentation will give a general overview of the Institute's operations and outline unique research undertakings of focused groups within the NAI.
