Date: Wed, 06 Jun 2001 09:28:36 +1000 From: Gabe Bloxham To: Nigel Douglas Cc: Prime_Optics@bigpond.com Subject: From Damien at Stromlo We now have two non-identical designs. I (...) call them versions 18.1.L600 and 18.1.R600. Let's define left and right by imagining that we are standing at the grating end looking ahead along the collimator at the telescope. If we lean forward we can look down the inspection port into the HAlpha camera. (The telescope axis is horizontal and the HAlpha camera axis is vertical pointing DOWN.) So now we have a left and right camera. These correspond to the current camera designations 1 and 2 respectively. Logically now we could use versions 18.1.L1200W & T and 18.1.R1200W & T, or just two, depending on which camera is best. That will emerge with use, I guess. We might leave those files until a later date, otherwise there may be some confusion. (What Damien means here is that in full-pupil mode we can choose L or R, whichever isbest -- ND). So you have : v18.0.600T and v18.0.600W for the TNG and WHT respectively (as ordered designs). "PNS3-18-0-600T.ZMX" and "PNS3-18-0-600T.ZMX" v18.1.L600T and v18.1.R600T, as-built, for the TNG. "PNS3-18-1-L600T.ZMX" and "PNS3-18-1-R600T.ZMX". v18.1.L600W and v18.1.R600W, as-built, for the WHT. "PNS3-18-1-L600W.ZMX" and "PNS3-18-1-R600W.ZMX". Hope this doesn't confuse things too much. I decided to split the systems up so that each system's function is quite clear from the filename alone. The bare ZEMAX file is sufficient then and you don't have to worry about the extra files necessary for the multiconfig. (W and T versions are the same except for the input beams. "multifig" refers to the way Gabe previous sent the zemax data: "The .124 files are the page setup details for zemax to read. The .CFG files are the configuration files for the respective zemax file. Just load all files in the directory where you run the zemax file from and all will run OK" If one prefers working with this system of files they are attached to the email from Gabe Bloxham of 25/5/2001. -- ND)
