Hi! I'm a support astronomer based at Epping (ras@aaoepp.aao.gov.au).

Telescope Support

I am instrument scientist for the RGO spectrograph and UHRF, and service observing on these instruments. I'm also one of the support astronomers for UCLES.

Databases

I'm responsible for databases and catalogues such as offline sky surveys (e.g. DSSII) and online catalogues (e.g. APM). I'm one of a team working on maintaining and developing the AAT data archive.

AAO Newsletter

I am editor of the AAO Newsletter, a quarterly magazine. If you have something of interest, please email contributions to newsletter@aaoepp.aao.gov.au

Research Interests

I completed my thesis on Supernova 1987A in 1996, studying the structure of the exploding envelope as revealed by optical emission line profiles. A database of the observations of SN 1987A made at the AAT is still under construction.

Current research interests include:

Late time spectral evolution of Type II supernovae
The gamma-ray burst supernova 1998bw
Line profile asymmetries in Type Ic supernovae
Continuing monitoring campaign of the optical spectral evolution of SN 1987A
