After 4 nights at Chena Hot Springs, it was time to return to the bright lights of Fairbanks. But by now we were so enthused that we hired 2 cars so we could go out of town and have one more look. Searching area maps for an accessible location with a clear northern horizon, we decided that a saddle just off the main highway north, about 20 miles out of town, would be ideal. Unfortunately, it seems we weren't the only ones to have reached this conclusion, as there were several other vehicle there by the time we arrived about 11:30pm. Still, for a couple of hours we got a pretty nice display, though for some reason the colours didn't come out so well in my photographs that night.
