AAO/ITSO-supported telescopes and other telescopes available to Australian-based researchers

Australian Astronomers have access to both national telescopes within Australia as well as several international telescopes. For more information about the AAO ITSO supported telescopes of Gemini, Keck, Magellan or Blanco see the ITSO website or contact itso@aao.gov.au. In the boxes below, typical proposal deadlines are given for the A semester (usually 1 Feb - 31 Jul each year) and for the B semester (usually 1 Aug - 31 Jan each year).

Keck: Primary Mirror = 10m

UKSchmidt: Primary Mirror = 1.2m

SkyMapper: Primary Mirror = 1.35m
Skymapper is run by the ANU, see the Skymapper Hompage.

Faulkes South: Primary Mirror = 2m

The Faulkes Telescope is part of the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope (LCOGT). ANU-based astronomers have access to 10% of observing time.
